'SAVE THE WILDS' CAMPAIGN
My favourite show 'The Wilds' on Prime Video was cancelled in the summer of 2022. The show had a strong fanbase due to its amazing representation and diversity it added to mainstream media. I was one of the passionate fans who helped to create the 'Save The Wilds Campaign'.
We broke into teams from communication and fundraising to media and design. I joined the design team to make graphics inspired by the show to spread the message about why The Wilds should be renewed or picked up by other streaming services. These images (above) were created by me on Procreate and shared by hundreds on social media. They have been seen by the cast and streaming platforms too.
After a few months of fundraising and gaining media attention, we were able to purchase a billboard space at Santa Monica Blvd, LA opposite the Hulu headquarters. I joined 4 other artist from across the world in creating the artwork for the billboard. We spent many hours learning the art style and discussing the dimensions for canvases. I drew the background as well as one of the characters. I used Procreate to do so. I also helped with the final layout. The billboard was recognised and reposted by the majority of the cast as well as seen by Amazon Prime Video officials.
After the launch of the billboard, we broke down our teams even more to cover the different graphics that needed to be made. We had a corporation team, trending team and campaign team. I joined the corporation team to make Hulu inspired adverts for our email and social media campaign. These were sent to officials at Hulu. These were made by myself (apart from the app mock up made by a member of the team and show posters from online)
Our next plan was to creative interactive posts that fans could follow along with. This was to help with engagement and start expanding the world of the show. I created the above graphics for this. Unfortunately, soon after creating these, the writers announced that despite our efforts, Prime Video have seen our work but still would not be picking back up the show and Hulu would not be acquiring it.
